There are 21 families, totaling more than 60 people, who are in desperate need of housing, as of July. We are specifically searching for 3-8 bedroom houses in the Waterloo area (Kitchener, Waterloo, Guelph, Cambridge).
Grassroots Response has assisted more than 1,500 individuals to date. They are now seeking to extend their support to these families and are rallying the community to join this cause. Urgent assistance is needed in finding hosts and landlords who are willing to rent out property to Ukrainian newcomers. By providing housing, landlords can make a positive impact on the lives of these families and the community as a whole.

One of these families is Victoria’s family, who arrived in Canada in February with her mother and two dogs, fleeing the war from the city of Kherson. Victoria gave birth to a baby in Canada and is now in urgent need of housing and any employment opportunities, despite her degree in design. Now she lives in Brantford but is ready to go everywhere. Grassroots Response is working tirelessly to find a suitable place for Victoria and her family, but we are faced with a shortage of available housing options.
