DONATION FROM LOCAL CHARITY RECEIVED AND URGENT NEED FOR HOSTS FORFAMILIES

April 26, 2023

Waterloo Region, Ontario. Waterloo Region Grassroots Response to the Ukrainian Crisis (WRGR), a 100%-volunteer-led group of residents supporting people from Ukraine fleeing the devastation in their country, is pleased to announce that they have received a generous donation of $10,000 from “100 Men Who Give a Damn Waterloo Region”.

This group is comprised of “like minded males who want to help the community who meet quarterly, and monies collected go to a charity voted on by members”. Other recent recipients of this quarterly $10,000 donation include Porchlight Counselling and Addiction Services and Bereaved Families of Ontario. WRGR is extremely proud and grateful to 100 Men to be selected for this desperately needed funding.

On another, more serious note, WRGR is struggling to keep up with the number of families in need.

Host families are URGENTLY needed to provide temporary accommodation for displaced Ukrainian people. This week, the following individuals are arriving in our Region and are without a place to stay:

 April 26, couple 30-50 (Want to bring their children and mother once they are settled)

 April 28, mother with 16 yr old

 April 28, 17 yr old

 April 28, couple 30-50

 April 28, female 50+

 April 28, male 25 yrs

 April 29, female 30-50

“If anyone has a spare room in their house, maybe a secondary unit, or maybe a senior

struggling and living on their own, they can reach out to us," said Stephanie Goertz, of WRGR.
