Let's Come Together to Help Ukrainian Svetlana Find a Host Family

Once again we are calling upon the community of Waterloo to lend a helping hand to the family in need. Svetlana her son Serhii and granddaughter Karina, along with their beloved dog, have recently arrived in Waterloo from Cherkasy City, Ukraine. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the family has had to move in with their cousin Yaroalav, who has special needs. With only one breadwinner, Serhii, working in St. Jacobs, the family is struggling to make ends meet and is in urgent need of a host family. Since Serhii works in the area and Karina went to school nearby, the family is looking for a family host not far from there, if possible.

Svetlana herself planted this flowerbed and grows flowers there.

The family's story is heartbreaking. Svetlana and her children were forced to flee their home in Ukraine due to the violence of war. They arrived in Canada with nothing but the clothes on their backs and a few personal belongings. Despite difficult circumstances, the family remains resilient, kind, and hopeful for a better future.

The community of Waterloo has always been known for its generosity and compassion, and we are confident that we will once again come together to help those in need. Let's show Svetlana and her children that they are not alone in this new country. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of this family and show them the true meaning of our community.
