I’m so thrilled to share that Grassroots Response to the Ukrainian Crisis is opening a new Guest House in New Hamburg.
Back in 2022, as Ukrainian families fled war and arrived in our region with nothing but hope, Wilmot stepped up. Hundreds of volunteers joined us within the first few months. Many of our founding members were from Wilmot and Wellesley, and I still remember the overwhelming compassion and energy that poured out of our community. I’m a Wilmot resident myself, and it’s no exaggeration to say that Grassroots was built on the foundation Wilmot provided.
Now, we’re returning. On June 1st, renovations will begin on a new Guest House that will offer shelter, stability, and support to those still seeking safety and a fresh start in Canada.
This isn’t just about a house. It’s about reigniting the spirit that made Wilmot one of the most powerful parts of our journey.
To every Wilmot volunteer, host, donor, and friend, we invite you to be part of this new chapter. Whether you supported us in 2022 or want to get involved for the first time, your presence will make a difference.
Let’s show once again what makes Wilmot so special — a community that leads with heart, opens its doors, and lifts others up. Join our team and fill out the volunteer form.

With gratitude and excitement,
Stephanie Goertz
